Junior Scholastic Mapman Contest Winner

Ms. Julie Craig’s 6th grade geography class participated in the Junior Scholastic Mapman contest.  Junior Scholastic challenged its readers to utilize map skills to figure out the destination of Mapman.  Then the students researched that location and created a map of the area including elements from the nation’s history and culture.

Congratulations to Eleanor Stein for being awarded a runner-up spot in Junior Scholastic’s “Can You Find Mapman?” contest.  Eleanor was one of 25 students, out of over 1,500 entries from 33 states, selected to receive this distinguished honor. Eleanor’s entry correctly located Mapman’s destination of Quebec.  Her map highlights plants and wildlife native to Quebec as well as other elements portraying the history and culture of this province in Eastern Canada.  Junior Scholastic especially appreciated Eleanor’s creative aspects of incorporating the Quebec flag into the map. Eleanor as well as the other winners are recognized for their work in the May 2025 issue of Junior Scholastic Magazine.
