As the 2024-2025 school year is underway, one of our top priorities for Seneca Grade School is improving our overall student attendance. Regular attendance is crucial for academic success. In response, the Student Services committee and administration will be dedicated to tackling chronic truancy and absenteeism. This team is composed of key school personnel and is further strengthened by including our Regional Office of Education Student & Family Services Coordinator. Together, we will work to identify the causes of absenteeism, support students and families, and implement effective strategies to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.
Our team will monitor attendance and send out the required parent letters and notifications after 5, 10, and 15 days missed, regardless of the reason for the absence. Notifications are sent to help keep parents informed about their child’s absences and provide options for support. We have some fun things planned regarding attendance celebrations within both buildings.
We look forward to working closely with our school community to improve attendance so that students can be present and powerful!
